1. Install
Download the file for your device from the download section. On Windows run the installer. On a Mac open the DMG and drag Gadget Expert to Applications. On Android open the APK on the phone and allow installing from this source. iPhone and iPad are on TestFlight for now: ask for an invitation. No account is needed; the 14-day trial starts when you open the app.
2. Set up your shop
The first screen asks for your business name, your name and your country, which sets currency, VAT and date format. Add your address, CVR or VAT number, phone, MobilePay number and logo there too; you see a preview of the top of your receipt. Change anything later in Settings → Your shop and Settings → Money. Want to look around first? Load the sample data from the Today screen and remove it later with one button.
3. Check in a device
On Today, press Check in a device. Type the customer's name or phone number and pick them, or add a new customer on the spot. Pick the device type and model, tap what's wrong, what was handed in and the condition, and add the unlock code and photos. The customer signs on screen, which accepts your check-in terms, and the receipt and QR label print.
4. Move a job forward
Every job shows its step: checked in, diagnosis, waiting for customer, in repair, ready to collect. The bar at the bottom of the job offers the next action, such as sending the quote, recording the customer's answer or marking it ready. Marking a job ready offers a message to the customer by SMS, WhatsApp or email.
5. Collect and get paid
When the customer comes back, press Collect on Today or on the job. Choose how they pay, enter cash received if you want the change worked out, let the customer sign, and finish. The invoice is created if it wasn't already, and the receipt or invoice opens for printing.
6. Sell at the counter
Open Counter, tap products from your price list or scan a barcode, and tap the payment method; the button shows the amount. At the end of the day, Close the day counts the cash drawer and prints the day report.
7. Team and PINs
Add the people in your shop in Settings → Team. Turn on the PIN lock to give each person a PIN and choose what they can do, for example reports, prices or refunds. The owner can do everything.
8. Backup and a second device
Each device keeps its own records and there is no automatic sync. Settings → Backup and data → Export backup writes one zip file with everything, including photos and signatures. Keep it on a USB stick, a NAS or a cloud drive. To move to another device, install the app there and use Restore backup; this replaces the data on that device.
9. Activate your licence
After payment your key is shown on screen and emailed to you. Paste it into Settings → Your shop → Licence on each device; the same key works on all of them. The key is checked on the device, and a renewed subscription is picked up the next time the app is online.
10. Printers
The app prints to any printer your device can use. Choose the label size in Settings → Money: Brother 62×29 mm, Dymo 89×36 mm, Zebra and others. Receipts work on 80 mm and 58 mm thermal printers or A4.
11. Import customers
In Settings → Backup and data, choose Import customers and pick a CSV file, or paste cells from Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. Columns are matched automatically and duplicates are skipped.
12. Updates
When a new version is out, a banner appears on the Today screen. Download and install it like the first time; your data stays. Updates are included in the licence.
Troubleshooting
- An iPhone isn't found over USB on Windows. Install Apple Devices from the Microsoft Store, unlock the iPhone and tap Trust.
- Android won't install the app. Allow installing apps from the browser or file manager you opened the APK with, then open the file again.
- I can't create new jobs. The trial or licence has ended. Existing work can still be opened, finished, printed and exported; add a key in Settings → Your shop → Licence.
- A setting is greyed out or missing. With the PIN lock on, some settings need the owner or a permission. Ask the owner to sign in.
